My dearest Douglas, 
I am enclosing a clipping which gave me an alarm -when I read the heading - but soon saw that you were safe at Liverpool- & now you must be in France. I hope the weather is fine- and you can enjoy running about and visiting old landmarks- It will be so fine for us - when once the letters can come along with some regularity.

Mrs. Johanson called me up today. She said the "ban" would not be lifted for some time - probably - and one thing was said to me by Mrs Bydee which was - the Cecilia Beaux was going to Europe next week to paint portraits and was going to take Miss Taggert with her!

Evidently Miss Beaux is telling of her journey anyway-

Such a time as I am having paying bills - and putting  away receipts - and counting up expenses - and I dare not get anything for myself. I so want to get a car - as it seems so necessary- I am going to the Dodge
