I have had no letter from you for a week or more, but of course forwarding causes delay.

Am so anxious to get word from you from Lowell,
not a word yet from the boys, they could drop me a line - for it is [[no?]] and to lonely here, as there is not a soul in this great city I know in a personal way.

I will soon be able I hope to strike some sort of an average in the way of living expenses, and know howI am coming out, and shall then send for some more money so you will not have to [[be?]] [[going?]] over anything.

I have got to send [[--ly?]] something 
right away, and living here simply means going in the groove in which circumstances place me, and practically letting everyone who does anything help himself!  So far I have seemed to need no more clothes, so have only had to get some extra collars, but may [[?]] up against it when hot weather comes on, wish I had my flannels here——

Of course there is no objection to describing in a general way the incidents I describe, to friends who know what I am doing, I am simply relying on your discretion and good taste - we don't want to make too much of it —— anyway.

I don't know how I am going to catch up in writing about these happenings, I can only touch on othersat the best, and I am surprised at the time it requires!  I am sending an other installment, about the Auto-trip, and I am only half way back to Paris!  I will send some such shots in a day or so, don't want to send too much by one mail, it is safer - be sure and acknowledge, all letters briefly - by number or any way so I can keep tabs
