June 20th 19' My dearest Douglas. We haven't heard from you since June 8th and you seem pretty far away from us- I expect it takes much longer for letters to come from Belgium- I have written every other day- the letters ought to get to get to Morgan Harjes by themselves! It has rained to day- & I have been busy in the kitchen- as Eva was not well- I made a fine strawberry shortcake for dinner. Jerry is painting the Canal- and is trying to get it in shape so Randell can enjoy it [[margin]]with it- How far it has to travel to reach you & then it only speaks for the days duties here. Our little home affairs- Good night dearest. Marion[[/margin]]
