and is all soldier - he is surely the "Soldier King" - Have had to recast my former impressions somewhat, so I am painting him as a soldier. I have been working on a black & white study of a composition.

(Maj. Hoffman sent me specially on Sunday to look at backgrounds etc at Dixmude & other points) and I think I have hit something expressive, the sketch is a little over 3 ft high.

You will be glad to hear that yesterday I had a call from Maj. Hoffman who brought Comte d'Outremont [[Oultremont]]. The latter is quite close
