I had my 49 sitting from Albert on Sat, it was a memorable day - to be with him on the day Peace was signed, and I so expressed myself to him, he was in a very gracious & genial mood, and in a very humorous way told me about the showy portraits German officers after the war of 1871 - were fond of having painted——  then I measured him on that day as Father did Lincoln — and he was so delightfully informal & human about it. Taking my pencil and making a strong mark himself in the wall where I had made a light one - saying “it didn’t matter” - Then he thought of a better way to measure up from the floor, than with the ruler, so he took [[strikethrough]] hold [[/strikethrough]] my canvas and measured up with that.
