Interview with the aid de camp of the Kind of Belgians.

Monday the 1st of June. I saw the Minister Brand Whitlock at the Legation. You enter a court yard (a U.S. auto. was at the rear) The offices on one side the residence on the other, was [[strikethrough illegible]] conducted by French servant in livery to second floor, and into a spacious room. Am. Whitlock advanced cordially to meet me, he is a younger looking man than I expected to see, tall smooth faced & thin. he reminded me of Lincoln, before his elections.

Had a very interesting talk with him for nearly a half an hour, more of "a chat" on art literature, and Modernism. In fact he talks like an artist, and
