My dearest Douglas.

I am wondering where this letter will reach you - whether in France or England?  And of course I wonder about your work in Brussells, and how it comes on - & if you can carry it on pretty well there?   Does His Majesty take a look now & then & make comments?

How eagerly we read about the first sitting - & in your last short letter - you said you would tell us about the second sitting at "Lackin" [[Laeken]] - Also you sent a $300.00 check - you told me to destroy if I received a duplicate—   Do you mean the first $300.00 check sent from Paris? I have had no other 300.00 check but that - & the $100.00 check from Brussells I received the day before yesterday - Well - Wendell told me to shut up the last 300. dollar one in the tin box - until I knew about it - The $100.00 I cashed in Bridgton yesterday. 

Wendell Jerry & I drove to Portland, we expected to go to Brunswick - but
