make a sketch of a background, but it poured, I kept at and got a little wet, and then the drive of about 200 miles was tiresome and cold, did not get back until nearly midnight, but it was all very wonderful and interesting, especially about the "Yser" where Albert spent much of his time.

Today worked on Mr. Whitlocks sketch, he ran over for about an hour. He is so fine, and we have a great time during the sittings. Yesterday he sent me a silver medal with his portrait on it, struck off for him by the Belgian Gen. And he is going to send me his book on Friday,
