read in the papers of the Belgian Nat. holiday & Victory celebrations, and the visit of the French Pres. The whole city has been wild with excitement and celebration for the last 3 days. A continuous down pour of rain, not in any way putting a damper on the enthusiasm.

Through the legation & Mr. W, I have had the privilege of seeing some of the doings at close quarters, Had a reserved place opposite the Palace on Monday to see the grand Military review, which was most thrilling - Imagine, the marshall [[martial]] strains of music, the tens of thousands of people, and the troops of the Allied Nations with battle flags etc, and at their head
