Dearest "Mumsey"

At last I have hit the real trail that leads to a "Locale eleve [[elévé]]" with Lloyd George, if nothing else turns up before tomorrow morning, to block its way.

A small book could be written about it all. In the first place, the address the Sect'y gave me in London, "Villa Euphreise" does not exist, so my first stop here Tuesday was fruitless had messengers going in

different directions, they all said he was in Dauville [[Deauville]], but nobody seemed to know where. The trail I was on seemed to be a blind one. I wrote a note at the end  gave it to a boy and told him Find George, and I would get the answer if there was any, I had to go back, barely knew what to do, and there was such a storm blowing that the little steamer came near turning berth, which would have put an end to the hunt & worries.

It stormed so the

to write a good deal of this over again to Johansen, who want to know how I am getting on with George. Said "La France" came into Havre this A.M. I wished it was the Mauretania with me on it going out.

You may just have time to answer this Care [[?]] before I sail. Safe to do so any way for a few days in case I should be delayed.
