next day that the boats did not venture out, So there I was, and where was George?  

I telegraphed however to Miss Stevenson, the Secretary just addressed to Dauville [[Deauville]], Carl Lloyd George, taking a chance, this morning the waters had calmed down and I started over again in the quest. Just before leaving the dock got a telegram from Miss Stevenson saying the Prime Minister could give me a sitting this morning at 11 o'clock and would send a car for me at the dock

it was 11 Thurs, and I the other side of the water, nothing to do but grab my small bag and and get over - came to this hotel which is the [[?]] place, hired an auto, (only $10)! and started for Manor Claire Fontaine the address given in last telegram, about 8 miles from here in the opposite direction from what I had been given to understand.  

But lets not linger by the way but get there.  The drive was along a hilly sea coast past magnificent villas etc.
