I find that the only things which accumulate are bills, and debts, of which I have more than I can begin to, or dare to count.  Well I suppose a man gets used to being poor after a number of years, but all the same its a great bore in ones youth.

Try and overlook my dear Joe the utter barreness [[barrenness]] of my letters my intentions are good, et j'ai au moins le mérite d’aimer beaucoup mes amis - et si je suis bête, eh:  mon Dieu que veux-tu [[vends-tu]]?  Il en faut de toutes espices [épices]].  Au revoir mon cher Ecris moi un mot, quand tu as le temps.
