Dearest Jesse-

Yours of - Tuesday - just received. I am so sorry to hear you are so tired - and sorry you are "distracted about finances" Has any thing suddenly changed? I shall calculate to send you the whole 1500 frs received from Uncle A - this month - I have sent you already 250 frs & shall tomorrow - send you 450 & then toward end of month send you 500 more. What will it take to get the place liveable for us both - That is how much will you want to spend on the place during the month of Oct. Have you heard from Albert as yet? You are now there and although you have not had time or strength as yet.- does there seem any chance to do any [[strikethrough]] thing [[/strikethrough]] business with Mons. Boufils when you are rested up.?

I am not strong as I should like - I do not feel badly, but have no strength to paint or to do much work around as I am in the habit of doing. I was thinking of staying here, where my expences are small till about Sept 15th then go to Paris to about 20th & see the Batemans for a day or two & see if there is a chance to sell them a small picture - (If I can get some small picture done) for about $100 - or $150. - but I do not feel there is much chance this year - Each time before I have sold them something. - but it does not look hopeful to me this year.- but as it did not look like I could be of any use to you now I thought I would try & see. If it was costing me money here I would certainly come & save it

What will it cost to do the repairs you will be forced to do in Oct so as to pass Winter - or have you any other plans. Have you seen Monsieur et Madame de Boufils. Since you left has only been about 10 days, but it seems like a month to me. I sent off 2 letters to you this morning. The Dr has given me some mixture for my nerves., It seems to be slowing up my strength too. & I do not feel so strong as usual- I think I shall only take a half dose for a while.

Please read this letter over when you answering me. I do hope with warmer weather you may be able to rest up & soon feel some better.
