[[/letterhead]] (11) Monday 19. le dear Emma & children I do not know what is the matter with my mail. have not had any letters for more than two weeks! have written to Paris to find out. we are having a grate [[great]] deal to do all the time. practely [[practically]] all the French troops have left this section now. but this whole section is being used [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] by the american[[s]] that are just comming [[coming]] from the front, it probely [[probably]] will soon stop then we will move forward with the french again. Jim and I are very glad that we were put with the french be cause we have the best opportunity to serve all the Allies they are becomming [[becoming]] so mixed. this morning a grate [[great]] many young men of the French Army went buy [[by]] not quite 19 years old they go forward next month, a fine lot of men. have not seen Miss Nash yet. there are three nurses. in this Hospetel [[Hospital]] two americans one English Lady. they had a grate [[great]] deal of work to do while the drive was going on here but now the work has slaked up almost entirely. Paul I am making a colective [[collective]] of all the Principle ensegnis [[insignias]] of the Allies and also the Germans to [[too]] but on a belt. some of the ensegnes [[insignias]] [[left page]] Yesterday and [[strikethrough]] stuessdly [[/strikethrough]] tueasday [[tuesday]] I had to take a long trip to two different towns looking for suplyes [[supplies]] for our Foyer. traveling in cammeions [[camions]] was an intresting [[interesting]] trip but the roads are tereably [[terribly]] dusty in this section. but I tell you Paul & Monca [[Monica]] it feels all the hiking we ever had This whole section was onc [[once]] civilized the towns were well populated now compleet [[complete]] distruction [[destruction]] every place, towns that I was in two weeks ago have been demolished people are comming [[coming]] back looking for their homes. Jim and I have had no fruit or sweets for weeks one town I past [[passed]] and saw in a little store candy & fruet [[fruit]] chocklette [[chocolate]] drops. This big one frank-tin in a box ten frank, apples 1.50c each, mushmellens 3 & 5 franks each it is very difficult to get a few of the nice tasty thing we need [[strikethrough]] some [[/strikethrough]] Jim and me are at last to be parted he [[strikethrough]] goes [[/strikethrough]] is ordered in to one Armey [[Army]] 5 and me in the Army of the 6 [[margin]] with [[Brushes?]] 145 [[/margin]]
