Dear Emma and Children,
We are now chasing the Bosch for all we are worth, four days on the road and part of each night we hope to catch up with them in two days somewhere . In my group we are all perfectly well in spite of our continuous travel in mud and rain and I feel fine. Received a fine letter the night I left the last place from you all. Do not know when we will hear from you again since nobody knows where we are, we are all jubilent over the probility of Peace any moment, at the same time we all hope Foch will make it to the end an unconditional surrender.
The sun has come out for the first time today, put a little cheer in the faces of the tired soldiers. We are meeting civilians now, old men, women and children. They cry when they see. More than four years with the Germans..I am the first American many have ever seen . Many of them want to kiss me, ofcourse should I object.
  Love of love and kisses
Do not know the date of the day
