Today is Sunday. This morning an illustrator who is a student here and I went sketching just below us here on the river.. This afternoon we went to Paris, took a long walk in the Bois de Blulongue then took a cross road and all at once came into a small lane which led us to the house of Balzac. We were very happy to see where this man had lived practically all his life, the mame of my friend from Chicago is Lieu Dulan. His wife is in America with a baby girl 6 months old, and he has never seen her, so walking on the street he is looking at all the little babies wondering if [[eavh]] one may be a representation of his. Am very glad to be with him. He is a good hard worker, does not like to run around much, and at the same time quite strong in his work. Next week the school opens officially, on the 28th. then there will be much to do, many lectures, sightseeing of sculpture painting and architecture. The sightseeing will all be in the nature of instruction, it is the greatest opportunity given to a man.
I made a good sketch this morning and I feel sure will go way beyond all my work. Anyway have started very well. The principal part of my work will be teaching of Sound Construction, of form in the round and criticism in the class of sculpture. Mr. Warren comes out almost every day so am very glad to see one person from New York. Now, good night. Will write more before I send this letter. You will find enclosed flowers picked today in the Bois de B.
