Washington, Aug 17, 1865.

Know all men by these presents that I William Eden of the County of Carroll State of Maryland held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of Two hundred ($200) dollars for the payment of which I bind myself my heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents, in this contract: that I am to furnish the persons whose names are subjoined (Freed laborers) Quarters, full substantial and healthy rations, all necessary medical attendance and supplies in case of sickness and the amount set opposite their respective names per month during the continuation of this Contract. This Contract to be broken only by mutual consent and to Commence on the 18th day of August 1865
