Know all men by these presents that I, Richard Davis of Howard County State of Maryland, held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of Two Hundred ($200) Dollars for the payment of which I bind myself my heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents in this contract. That I am to furnish the person whose name is subjoined (Free laborer) Quarters. Full, substantial, and healthy rations, and all necessary attendance and supplies in case of sickness, and the amount set opposite his name per month during the continuation of this contract. One Year. This contract to be broken only by mutual consent. It is further agreed that said Richard Davis shale [[shall]] retain 25 per cent of the monthly Richard Davis wages for said Issac Jones, as a fullfillment of the contract
