September 18th 1865

Know all men by these presents that I, Evans Duvall of Anne Arundle County State of Maryland held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the Sum of 200$, two Hundred dollars, for the payment of which I bind myself my heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents in this Contract that I am to furnish the persons whose names are subjoined (free Laborers) quarters full substantial and healthy Rations. And all necessary attendance and supplies in Case of Sickness. And the amount set opposite their respective names per month monthly during the Continuation of this Contract. And it is Expressly understood that 25% per cent of said wages are to be retained per month, until the termination of terms of Service. this Contract to be broken only by mutual Consent.
