Know all men by these presents that I Edward S. Butler of Brownsville, Anne Arundel County, and State of Maryland - held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of 200$ two hundred dollars for the payment of which I bind myself, my heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents in this Contract, that I am to furnish the persons whose names are Subjoined (Free Laborer) Quarters, Full Substantial and healthy Rations, also privileges of raising Hog Poltry &c. And all necessary attendance and supplies in case of sickness. And the amount set opposite their name per month monthly "Less" 25 twenty five per cent - which amount is to be retained until the termination of the Contract. There to be paid to the Employees in full. Also all transportation to my Residence from City of Washington this Contract to be broken only by mutual consent.
