Sept. 26th 1865

Know all men by these presents that I, John F. Sheckell of Mullers Till, Anne Arundel County State of Maryland, held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the Sum of 200$, Two Hundred dollars for the payment of which I bind myself my heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents in this contract, that I am to furnish the persons whose names are subjoined (Free Labors) Quarters full Substantial and healthy Rations. And all necessary supplies and Attendance in case of sickness. And also to Raise a Hog and Poultry, &c. And the amount set opposite their Respective names per Month, Monthly, less (25) twenty five per cent which Amount is to be retained until the termination of this Contract then to be paid to the Employees in full, also all cost of transportation to my Residance from the City of Washington, this Contract to be broken only by mutual Consent.
