Know all were by these presents that I Clement Hill of upper Marlborough Prince Georges County Maryland held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of five hundred ($500.00) dollars for the payment of which I bind myself, my heirs, executors and admin-istrators firmly by these presents in this contract: that I am to furnish the persons whose names are subjoined (Freedmen) quarters and one dollar ($1.00) per cord for each cord of wood Each shall cut and cord up I also agree to furnish these men full substantial and healthy rations at whole Baltimore rates

We the undersigned agree to cut and cord wood for Mr Clement Hill according to the terms of the above contract and to pay him for all axes he may furnish us upon our requisition and one dollar in work for our transportation to the work from Washington DC
