Oct 12th 1865 Know all were by these presents that I Clement Hill of upper Marlborough Prince Georges County Maryland held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of five hundred ($500.00) dollars for the payment of which I bind myself, my heirs, executors and admin-istrators firmly by these presents in this contract: that I am to furnish the persons whose names are subjoined (Freedmen) quarters and one dollar ($1.00) per cord for each cord of wood Each shall cut and cord up I also agree to furnish these men full substantial and healthy rations at whole Baltimore rates 1 James Jackson 2 Madison Jackson 3 Almstead Williams 4 James Gibbs 5 Augrus Washington 6.
