Know all men by these presents that I, William M. Hardesty, of Montgomery County State of Maryland held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of Two Hundred ($200) Dollars for the payment of which I bind myself my heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents in this contract that I am to furnish the person whose name is subjoined (free laborer) Quarters, full and substantial and healthy rations and all necessary attendance and supplies in case of sickness and the amount set opposite his name per month, monthly, less Twenty five (25) per cent. which amount is to be retained until the termination of this contract, then to be paid in full. this contract to be broken only by mutual consent.
