Prof Putnam

March 12, 1903.

My dear Professor:-

Have but a few minutes to spend in the Museum this morning as I must get the Navajos ready for their trip to Pratt Institute this afternoon. There are a number of interesting things that I would like to write of at length but will have to give them but a mention at this time.

The Sportsmans Show closed with all hands tired out but with something to the credit of the Expedition in the way of cash. Benham is now in Chicago as is also Fred Hyde. Expect Benham last either Saturday or Sunday. Indians leave for Chicago to-night. Do not know whether Fred will take them on West or whether he will come on to New York. Last word from Benham stated that he had not seen Fred.

Everything quiet at the Museum. Received word from Prof. Bumpus announcing my appointment as recommended by you. Want to express my heartfelt appreciation of this your latest kindness. May I always be worthy of your generous interest.

Had a demonstration of Navajo weaving at the Teachers College Tuesday afternoon and yesterday morning. I enclose clipping from the Tribune which gives a very good picture of the Indians.

Will write you a letter concerning the general work in the Museum, must close for the present and make a dash for the Store. Kindly tell Miss Alice that I am having a sofa-pillow cover mide [[made]] for her.

In haste but very sincerely yours,
George H. Pepper

Second to last sentence, mice? or nice? word is unclear. I believe it should be "made" but was a typo as "mide"
