American Museum of Natural History 77th Street and Eigth Avenue New York, Sept. 19, 1903. Department of Archeology My dear Pepper:- I was very glad to receive yours of the 12th. I have been in New York about two weeks -- took my vacation in Michigan. Don't believe everything that you see in the newspapers. I did find where the Indians had dug out a lot of arrow material and left a few hammers lying about, a hole in the ground, and a dump heap. S[[strikethrough]]Sargent[[/strikethrough] aville is here and has been putting in some time at Columbia. I wonder if you are taking photographs of nearly everything you see. I hope so. You know we haven't a respectable lot of cliff house and pueblo negatives from which lantern slides can be made for the great American people. I hope you will get them on this trip. I am glad to hear that you have have made good finds. Am much interested in some of the pottery which has come for Mrs. De Forest.
