to take the position of Chief of the Department of Anthropology at the St. Louis Exposition.  He was here to arrange to get us to make an exhibit.  I doubt if this will be done.

Russell has resigned from the Peabody Museum and has gone to live on a ranch in the Southwest account of his health.  Gordon has taken Culin's place, so far as work is concerned, while Furness takes the other part of the position.

I supposed you know that Hartman is anthropologist at Pittsburgh.  I guess the Bureau crowd are all pretty sick, including Holmes himself.  If the flying machine gets for enough under the Potomac, perhaps things will improve down there.

Owens has been in the Southwest this year and made a pretty good collection, so far as I can learn without seeing it.

Mr. Mead has gotten out a very nice little guide leaflet describing some of the musical instruments of the Incas, as one of the supplements.
