AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY,
77TH STREET AND EIGHTH AVENUE.

NEW YORK, Oct. 6, 1903.

DEPARTMENT OF ARCHAEOLOGY.

My dear Pepper:-

Your telegram of Oct. 5 was received yesterday and I spent last evening endeavoring to get at my A. A. A. S. papers, but as my library is still packed up, was not successful.

It occurred to me, however that I had sent the circular to "Science," and I enclose herewith a copy of the article that appeared in that publication March, 28, 1902, pg. 509, which i think will give you the desired information. I might say that the letter was one which I made up for the occasion and is useful to you only as a suggestion, since it is not a regular from prescribed by the Association.

I trust it will answer your purpose, and remain,

Yours very sincerely,
Harlan J. Smith
