crescent shape. It is good in form and polish. Then there is a small white jadeite bird. Half of a small obsidian mirror and a large obsidian knife. This knife is made of banded obsidian and is formed like a snake. It is one of the ceremonial forms and is a beauty. As I remember it, it is 7 inches in length and about half an inch thick at its broadest part. There are three pottery pipes, two of which are perfect. One black obsidian spindle whorl with incised design. One seated figurine of clay. One clay stamp similar to the ones found at Teotihuacan. One turtle form carved from a solid piece of stone. One large chert spear head or knife. One pottery whistle. There are ten large stone figures some of which much weigh ten or twelve pounds. There is one figured in Lumholtz's "Unknown Mexico", Vol. 2, page 446 that might have been taken from the one in this collection, so nearly does it approximate it. Some of these figures are rather crude in carving but most of them are good representative pieces of a culture that is not well represented in Museums. One of the prize pieces of the collection is a large circular stone dish with cover. It is about 18 inches in diameter and at least ten inches deep. The sides are 2inches thick and the cover is quite heavy. Have never seen a piece like it in the Museums. There are two finely decorated jars. One is white with black decoration. It has such a polish that it it seems almost like a glaze. The other is a tripod bowl with animal forms on the interior. There are two of this tripod form. There is a large pottery figure with flat body. Seven pottery vessels of various forms and sizes. Of great interest are four copper axes. Look at Lumholtz, Vol. 2, pg. 413 and you will see the form.
