My dear George:
Your Combi letter to us both, dated November 18th, arrived safely. You certainly must have had a fearful trip, and I sincerely trust that Mrs. Pepper is perfectly well again. I am sure you are, for it will take more than that to hurt your iron constitution, but my hat is certainly off to your wife, for she has more grit than any one I know of; riding seventy-two miles the second time she was in the saddle when she was so sick, certainly was a wonderful performance.
It must have been very disappointing to you not to get to work at the mounds, but I hope long before you receive this
