of Freedmen, he has received an Order from District Headquarters appointing him Judge Advocate of a Military Commission. I will apply to the General to have the Order revoked, provided I can obtain Col. Johnson's consent to have him releived from serving on the Military Commission. I am to be informed by telegraph to-day. If he is not releived from the Commission, it will be necessary for me to have an Officer sent there from this place, as I could learn of no other serving in that Sub-District that could be spared from their commands.

We issue rations to one hundred and twenty Freedmen at Columbus, all women and children. They are provided with good comfortable houses, occupying those turned over by the Confederates at the surrender. I have made arrangements to have our printing paid for from the Post fund
