Macomb June 15th 65
             Col Sam'l Mornas

Dear Col

I wrote to some time since failing to receive a response I have concluded you did not receive it. My mind is not divested of the idea that I have a duty to discharge relative to this exslave & in my operations in that department would like if circumstances would alow to operate in conjunction with Col Thomas. Will you please answer & tell me if there is an opening there for a man of my cloth & calling. If not if any of the valued regiments on garrison duty there are minus a Surgeon & Asst. If there is a place for me I will make my arrangements to go early this fall & sooner if desired.

Heard from Aggie a few days since. Col give me as frely a letter as you have time to write. Hopeing to hear from you soon.

I am Dear Col your Obt. Servent,
A.B. McCandless MaComb
McDonough Co
Ills
