Vicksburg June 17
Gen. Thomas
Dear Sir
Mr. Catchings of Shell Bluff came down on our boat last trip and being a Stranger here was unable to find the Office for the hiring of Freedmen. He wants about fifteen or twenty would rather have women without children or with children over ten year of age. I am satisfied, they would be well treated. I am acquainted with several men along the Yazoo river who want hands. And if it would not be too much trouble I would like you to address me, care Messrs Garrard & Sells, Vicksburg, on the subject as it will benefit the men as well as the employers.

Yours Truly
Jno. A.M. Donough
of Str. Shreveport
