Colonel,
I had supposed that in the order you recently made directing non-interference with my property until the matter of its full restoration by Genl Howard which you were kind enough to recommend should be done included my interest in what is known here as the Dickson House - I referred particularly to that interest in my petition to you and gave very full history of the whole property in the exhibit accompanying - It is now intimated that the home will be taken as a Hospital for Freedmen. Col Donaldson holding that as this [[strikethrough]] property [[/strikethrough]] house was seized as the property of C. R. Dickson from whom the mere legal title was desired it could not be considered as any portion of my own property - I deemed it best therefor believing as I so certainly did that of course you referred as much to my share in this property as any other mentioned by me in the order you gave
