Either in the militia or regular Confederate Army during the War, and he has in no way given any support to the Rebellion, at any time during its existence, to bring him within the [[operation?]] of any act of Congress confiscating property, nor does he come within any of the Excepted cases of the Presidents Proclamation of May 29th 1865. He lent no aid to initiating the War which has wrought such evil to the Common Country, but upon the contrary his voice and advice were against it, and in reviewing his course for the past few years, he cannot see a single past occasion or cause why the Authorities of the United Stated should retain from him the possession of his property herein before discribed, and until it is restored him he is dependent upon the kindness and hospitality of others for a home - Your Petitioner Therefore prays - The premises considered - an order restoring him full possession of his said
