To Colonel Samuel Thomas, Commissioner of Freedmen and Abandoned Funds &c;

The Application of Maria L. Magruder, aided and assisted herein by her husband A.L.C. Magruder, respectfully represents, that she is the Owner in Fee of Lot No 248, Two Hundred and forty-eight, of square 44, on the original plat of the city of Vicksburg, as will be seen by reference to Exhibit "A," herewith filed as a part thereof;

That the applicant is informed that said Lot, together with the buildings thereon, have been leased through your Bureau, and she respectfully prays that said property may be turned over to her, subject to the present monthly lease, that her object and purpose is alone to have her property restored to her, and not to hinder, distress, or embarass, the present Lessee in any manner.
