This Indenture made and entered into the 27th day of July AD 1860 between Dr A L C McGruder and Maria Louisa his wife of the first part Edwin G Cook and Henry F Cook of the second part (all said parties being of the City of Vicksburg in the County of Warren and State of Mississippi) and Ben Johnson now of [[Owego?]] in the County of Tioga and State of New York of the Third part, Whereas the said A L C McGruder is justly indebted to said Ben Johnson by his four several Promissory notes payable to said Johnson for the sum of nineteen hundred Dollars each all dated Vicksburg Miss April 2nd 1860 and are respectively one two three and four years after date and also by one other promissory note of the same date for the sum of Seven Thousand Dollars payable to said Johnson five years after date and is willing to secure the punctual payment of said notes. Now this, Indenture Witnesseth that as well for and in Consideration [[strikethrough]] as [[/strikethrough]] of the Promises, as of of the sum of Ten Dollars to them in hand, paid before the sending [[?]] & delivery of these presents by the said party of the second part the receipt of which he hereby acknowledged, the said parties of the first part have granted, bargained, sold and conveyed, and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto the said parties of the second part their heirs and assigns forever, the following described land and real Estate
