Col Saml Thomas
Supt Freedmens Bureau
Department Vicksburgh

Col
Rvd William M. McReynolds informs me that he is an applicant for an appointment under you as assistant Supt of Freedmen or a position of that character.

I am intimately acquainted with Mr McReynolds and can say that his uniformly cheerful disposition, pleasant manners, energy and integrity of character, in my opinion, admirably fit him for a position of that character, he is a man of age and irreproachable character.

Any favor you can show him will be confered upon a worthy and meritorious man
