2) [[strikethrough]] an [[/strikethrough]] are now going up the hills above St. Marc, a few hours distant for 10 days or so, before returning to Port au Prince. Have no expectations in the bird line at this next place. Got about 100 bird skins at Gonave & Nurin[[?]] I never want to return Nun[[?]] - Tho' Leonard thought it the nicest place he ever saw. It was his first camp - & there are no white men there to damn the place. But it is not a nice place. It is incessantly dry here - not much rain for 3 years. but main trouble this past trip, was the drunken cook [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] in our party. One cant do much without proper servants. We wont ship anything home until our return to Port au Prince - 2 - 3 weeks hence.
Hope you Keep well -
Yours very Truly
W.L. Abbott

Transcription Notes:
Gonave is an island of west coast of Haiti Nurin[[?]] could not find even trying several different spelling variations Nimith Nemith etc - maybe the first letter is not an "N"? I think the first letter might be Th. The letter looks like the beginning of the word "thought" in the line below. There is a town called Thiotte, but it doesn't look like that.
