Jan. 30th, 1962.

Dearest Mom & Uncle,

As soon as I mailed the other letter to you, yours came. As that time was war exams, I couldn't find time to write.

When I tell you something, you'll start worrying. But I can't wait till the end. Promise you won't worry. Sunday night, this 28th, I didn't feel too good. So I went to bed early. The next morning, I got up + took the 2 tests. By that time, I knew I had a temperature. But I didn't dare to tell Sister, because if I did, she would not let me take the tests. That same afternoon, I couldn't bear it any longer. I was burning with fever. Sister took my temperature. She didn't tell me what it was but from her expressions, I knew it was quite high. So she sent me to bed, made me take 2 coricidins [[Coricidin]]. Later, she moved me to a single room. I [[strikethrough]] set [[/strikethrough]] slept the whole day & at night she took my temp. again. It was the same. She gave me [[strikethrough]] some [[/strikethrough]] a bottle of cough syrup (Vicks' Formula 44) It is supposed to be very good. Also 2 pills. That night, last night, I was perspiring. This morning, she moved me into the infirmary. Yesterday I was occupied by some girls who left school [[strikethrough]] today [[/strikethrough]] [[strikethrough]] tomorrow [[/strikethrough]] [[strikethrough]] yesterday [[/strikethrough]] today. I didn't have a temp. this morning. None this afternoon. After I slept for sometime, I got it again. I'm writing to you in bed now. Sister said I probably got the flu. She wants me to stay in bed for the whole week. She said that I studied too hard for the exams. Fortunately, the shame
