Dearest Mom and Uncle,

I [[strikethrough]] have [[/strikethrough]] was happy to receive your letter. How are you? I hope you & uncle have gotten over the flu. Was it real bad? Do tell me about it.

I had a wonderful time in Los Angeles. I suppose you've gotten the letter I mailed you from there. I bought quite a few things there - black skirt, beautiful sweater, etc. We left on Sunday morning at 8 A.M. & got back to school at 9:45 A.M. We went to bed as soon as we unpacked because we were so tired. We'd hardly any sleep the night before. Did you know that I gained 3 lbs at L.A.? I ate & ate & ate, like a pig. After I got back, I discovered I had $10 left from the $100 you sent. Half is gone because I had to pay for the Xmas cards I ordered at school & for numerous things. I hope I'm not asking too much again. As I mentioned in the other letter, I only have a very little sum left with Sister - $12, so I hope you will please send me more. With this Xmas rush, I have to get all the things.
Mrs. Adell asked us to dinner [[strikethrough]] today [[strikethrough]] tomorrow night. That so was so sweet of her. Tomorrow, I'll be going shopping for Christmas presents. It is a little late but I don't care as long as the presents get to H.K. Maggie will buy you the wig & lipsticks.
