MALCOLM WARD August 21, 1942 Miss Lee Ya Ching Care of United China Relief 1790 Broadway New York, N.Y. Dear Miss Lee: I want to express my very sincere appreciation of your kindness in having arranged your plans to be here on September 11. I would have been a real pleasure to Mrs. Allen and me to have seen you again. I am also glad to tell you that you have so many friends in Toledo who wanted to see you. Unfortunately, it has now developed that United China Relief in Toledo will not be direct participants in the game scheduled for September 11. The final offer was one which I did not feel that United China Relief would be justified in accepting. Under the circumstances, therefore, it will not be necessary for you to arrange to be here on Sept. 11. This, however, does not change the fact that we all liked you so much, and you have so many friends in this town that, if at any time, you could find it convenient to stop here, I can assure you of a most cordial welcome. Again thanking you, and with kindest personal regards in which Mrs. Allen joins me, I am, Yours very truly, H.E. Allen H.E. Allen Toledo Chairman
