Dear Sir:

A new era in the history of Eastern Asia has begun. It is an era of momentous changes which closely concerns every one of us. The Sino-Japanese war, the present conditions of China and Japan, the positions of Great Britain and the United States in the Far East, the present conditions of the U.S.S.R. and her policy, all these make interesting problems of the present age.

It is with a view to answering the general demand for information regarding these problems and to supplying materials for academic study that we publish our magazine, the PACIFIC DIGEST. The publication is not entirely a business enterprise. Besides publishing the magazine, we have also been doing work for peace and against aggression. Our magazine has a very distinctive feature. Its articles are selected from the Chinese, Russian and Japanese presses and periodicals. These articles are written by authoritative and influential writers. In publishing these articles in English, we mean to remove the language obstacle, and to transmit to the English-speaking reading public the true voice of the peoples of important Pacific countries.

With compliments of Dr. T. V. Soong formerly the vice-president of the Executive Yuan and Finance Minister of China, we are sending you now under separate cover one copy each of the April, May, June, July and August issues of our publication, the PACIFIC DIGEST, and shall be glad to send you for one year. Any comments from you will be greatly appreciated.

Yours truly,

Chen Pin-ho
Managing Editor
