TWENTY-NINE BEEKMAN PLACE

Dear Miss Lee:

I tried to reach you on the phone several times in the last few days, but was unable to find you in.

I just wanted to tell you that I spoke to Major Drege, General Royce's aide, and he asked me to tell you that he had tried in several ways to do something about helping you to get a job ferrying planes, but he said he found it absolutely impossible to do anything because you had not been born in the United States. Still the same nonsense!

He was terribly sorry, and sent you his good wishes.

Do hope you are going to be able to come to the showing of the Seversky-Disney movie on Monday night. I look forward to seeing you.

Cordially yours,

Mary Woodard Lasker
