Miss Lee -2- likely to have for some months, the only reasonable course to pursue seems to be that of releasing you, for the present at least, from your responsibilities to U.C.R. Mr. Perry tells us that last Friday he sent you a check for three weeks, covering last week's salary and your two weeks of vacation. We are asking him this week to send you a check for an additional two weeks' salary, thus covering a period of four weeks' notice, as is customarily given under such circumstances, or a combination of vacation and notice if it is preferable to consider it in that way. We hope that these adjustments will be adequate to permit your making other satisfactory arrangements. Of course we want to continue keeping in touch with you, and of assisting in any way that we can. We are deeply appreciative of all the excellent service you have been rendering to China as a member of our U.C.R. staff, and sincerely regret that the circumstances under which we are now operating makes this reduction in our staff necessary. Very cordially yours, James. L. McConaughy James. L. McConaughy President JLMcC/BGP CC: Miss Jorzick Mr. Perry
