Mr. Frederick Landsberg,
  43 Johnson Street,
    Victoria, B.C.

My dear Mr. Landsberg:-

The material that you have shipped to Mr. Heye reached him some days ago but I have been unable to attend to the matter at an earlier date. He was greatly pleased with the shipment and especially with the bone dagger handle. The last named specimen is so unusual in form and ornamentation that it stands in a class of its own and Mr. Heye wishes me to express his deep appreciation of your kindness in allowing him to add this rarity to his Northwest coast material.
There is one piece that I shall have to return as it is too new to find a place among the old specimens which compose Mr. Heyes collection. That is the Haida head-dress. You no doubt remember that I stated in my last letter that Mr. Heye thought that he could use his own example of the Haida head-dress until you could find a better one fir him but I did not realize that it was of such recent make.
I am sending you, herewith, a money for the balance of your bull (315.50) and you can credit Mr. Heye with the amount paid for the head-dress, less the expressage and duty on the package that I am sending by express. I fell that this will be the best way to handle
