My Dear Mr. Pepper
Yours of Sept. 25th only to hand the latter part of last week. I was awfully glad to hear from you & to know that both you and Mrs. Pepper were well. I think I can write with a lighter heart after I have "said a little say", that should have been said some time ago.

Some six months ago. I used the money from your draft expecting twice the amount from conductor Brooks the following week. He has put it off from week to week & that is the reason that your money has not gone forward. Between now and the 15th of Jan. it will be sent for whether Brooks pays or not. I have other money coming in. I feel better for the confessions. I am very sorry that your material has never gone forward. I packed and sent it to Mr. Bauer in Feb. but he never acknowleged the receipt of same. The express was prepaid,so he has nothing to collect from you.
I would give a lot, if you and Mrs. Pepper were coming out this fall. I could make you all more comfortable than when you were here before &
