have business in these parts.
From the description on the civl engineer who visited this region, the natives work the burial mounds for the gold objects that were buried with the dead. They turn a stream of water into the mound and wash out everything. The pottery is washed away with the sand asd scattered along the course of the water. The only objects saved are those of metal. We have evidence of a large gold cup being found. It finally became the property of Mr. Morgan. Although gold objects show the high degree of aesthetiscism attained by these people yet the bone and stone implements are of as great value to scientific students. Should there be any opportunity of obtaining miterial from this region I would strongly urge that all objects be collected regardless of beauty or material.
It is from unexpected sources that science is often enriched. May I not hope that you or some of your business friends may afford us some such surprise.
Very sincerely yours,
Geo. H. Pepper
