Dear Madam:-

The director of the Museum has placed in my hands the documents and correspondence relating to the wampum belt that you have for sale.

I have taken this matter up with the gentlemen who are mentioned as possible purchasers and there is a fair chance of their buying the specimen. In specimens of this nature it is imperative that the object itself be presented for inspection before any definite decision is made. In view of the fact that there is a strong probability of selling the belt I would suggest that you bring it to New York. Should no sale be made these gentlemen will gladly defray your expenses.

Respectfully yours,
