My dear Mr. Pepper:-
From your last letter I learn that my good intentions to bring out your archaeological material in the way which seems to me that surest and cheapest under the actual circumstances have been misunderstood. You do not express yourself clearly enough about my collecting that ethnological material, so I cannot take the risk of the matter. The same thing happens to both you and myself: we have not enough guaranty to each other. I am sorry for you that no arrangement could be done in the suggested way.
I will start one of the next days to an excursion in the State of Veracruz - Misantla, Papantla, etc. - and will be absent about a month.
Very respectfully yours
Dr. Wilhelm Bauer.
