study work.
I feel quite sure that you understand my position and will realize that my only thought is for the furtherance of anthropology. There was a mutual understanding between Professor Putnam and myself at the time the collections were made. Whether this agreement was put on record I cannot say, but I feel sure that your interest in the advancement of science will cause you to explain this matter to the Executive Committee and thereby assure them that it is through no lack of interest in the American Museum that I make request for an action by the Committee which will enable me to use the collections as originally intended.

Thanking you for your thoughtful and timely suggestions in regard to this letter, I beg to remain

Respectfully yours,
B. Talbot B. Hyde
